The NGM-4.8 is a rail profile grinding machine designed for finishing and repairing welded rail joints, correcting uneven rail connections, removing fat edges, dressing track end-faces and other maintenance tasks on 43kg/m–75kg/m rail sections during overhaul and emergency repairs.
The machine is powered by a Honda GX200 petrol engine rated at 4.8 kW with an engine speed ≥3600 r/min. Fuel: regular gasoline appropriate for the Honda GX200 (follow the engine manufacturer's fuel recommendations).
Standard grinding wheel size is φ125×65×M20. Main shaft speed is 4500 r/min and the grinding wheel linear peripheral speed is ≥35 m/s. Grinding wheel stroke is 45 mm.
It is suitable for common heavy rails in the 43 kg/m to 75 kg/m range, covering typical rails used in mainline and industrial track welding and repair.
The grinding wheel tilt range is ±90°. Angle control is digital and driven by a stepping motor; available angle accuracy options include 0.5°, 1.0°, 2.0°, 3.0°, 4.0° and 5.0°.
The feed device is driven by a stepping motor with digital display. Feed accuracy options include 0.01 mm, 0.1 mm, 0.15 mm, 0.2 mm, 0.25 mm and 0.3 mm, allowing precise and repeatable material removal.
The machine uses an MCU controller that digitally displays feed rate and rotation angle. It also provides precise control of feed and angle, and includes a one‑key reset function to return feed and rotation to the initial state after grinding.
Control electronics are powered by a lifelong maintenance‑free power source (battery pack) described as having fast charging, high discharge current capacity, high energy conversion efficiency, low loss, good low-temperature performance and long cycle life. For battery specifications and charging procedure, consult the manufacturer.
Machine dimensions: 1700 × 590 × 750 mm; weight: 98 kg. It is designed for convenient movement on tracks and for quick deployment and removal. Due to its weight, use appropriate lifting/handling equipment or two trained operators for transport.
Inspect the grinding wheel before each shift for cracks, excessive wear or imbalance. Replace immediately if damaged. Replacement frequency depends on workload and material removed; keep spare wheels (φ125×65×M20) on hand. Follow wheel manufacturer safety and dressing guidelines.
Daily: check grinding wheel condition, fasteners, steering/profiling wheels and battery charge. Follow Honda GX200 engine maintenance (oil, air filter, spark plug) per engine manual. Periodically check stepping motors, electrical connections, and the MCU controller. Lubricate moving parts as recommended by the supplier.
Wear appropriate PPE (safety glasses/face shield, hearing protection, gloves and protective clothing). Ensure secure machine mounting on the rail, clear the work area of personnel, be aware of sparks and hot swarf, ventilate to avoid exhaust build-up, and use the emergency stop if abnormal operation occurs. Follow local railway safety and lockout/tagout rules.
Yes. The NGM-4.8 can grind both sides of the rail at 90° and supports large inclination angles enabled by its ±90° tilt range and digitally controlled angle adjustment.
The machine carries a 1-year warranty. For spare parts, service, calibration, or training, contact the manufacturer or authorized dealer. Keep purchase documentation and serial numbers handy when requesting support.
