The VEGASON 6X family (models VEGASON 61, VEGASON 62, VEGASON 63) is a series of contactless ultrasonic level transmitters for continuous level measurement of liquids and bulk solids in storage vessels, open tanks and small containers.
It measures liquid and bulk-solid levels. It is suitable for open-air tanks, storage vessels and small containers containing bulk solids.
Liquid measurement is available up to 8 m and bulk-solid measurement up to 3.5 m. Measured deviation is ±4 mm or < 0.2%, depending on the model and setup.
Process temperature range is -40 … +80 °C (-40 … +176 °F). Process pressure range is -0.2 … +2 bar (-2.9 … +29 psig).
Available signal outputs include 4…20 mA with HART, Profibus PA and Foundation Fieldbus, depending on the chosen electronics option.
Configuration and local readout are available with PLICSCOMPACTware and the VEGADIS 81/82 displays. Fieldbus/HART tools can also be used for remote configuration and diagnostics.
The ultrasonic sensor is contactless, which minimizes wear and maintenance. Periodic visual inspection and ensuring the mounting area is free of heavy buildup are normally sufficient.
Contactless ultrasonic measurement is largely independent of filling properties such as dielectric or conductivity. However, extreme conditions (heavy foam, dense vapor, very turbulent surfaces or thick dust clouds) can affect the ultrasonic echo and should be checked during application testing.
The VEGASON 6X family is available with a variety of approvals including ATEX, IEC, shipbuilding approvals, FM, CSA and AC (GOST), depending on model and configuration.
These transmitters are mounted above the measured surface with an unobstructed acoustic path. Avoid obstructions, ladders or baffles in the beam path and follow the manufacturer's installation instructions for minimum clearance and orientation. Exact mounting threads/flanges and mechanical options depend on the selected model.
Yes — a minimum dead zone exists and its exact size depends on the transducer and model variant. Refer to the product datasheet for the precise blind-zone (minimum measurable distance) for your chosen model.
Power requirements depend on the chosen electronics and communication option. 4–20 mA loop-powered versions typically require a 24 V DC loop supply. Check the datasheet for exact power specifications for HART/Fieldbus variants.
Yes. Models with the appropriate approvals (ATEX, IECEx, FM, CSA, etc.) are suitable for use in hazardous areas. Select the approved variant that matches your zone/classification.
Yes — it is designed for measurement in open-air tanks and pools. Ensure the chosen model and housing protection level are appropriate for outdoor exposure and environmental conditions.
