Logs, typically over 6 meters in length, are cut to required lengths, minimizing wastage. The cutting length is usually the product's length plus remnants. For example, a 1220mm × 2440mm product requires a cutting length of 2600mm or 1300mm. The wastage ratio is approximately 3%-10%.
Veneer Peeling:
The veneer peeling process is essential, with back veneers having a thickness of 0.6mm and core veneers being 1.8mm thick. This process is the cornerstone of plywood production.
Veneer Drying:
After peeling, the veneer is dried to the required moisture level, with shrinkage of 4%-10%. This shrinkage affects the veneer’s dimensions but ensures the final product meets standards.
Veneer Gluing and Handling:
Veneers are cut and mended before being assembled into the correct dimensions. This stage's wastage ratio is about 4%-16%, depending on the quality of the veneer and the skill of the operators.
Cold and Hot Pressing:
The glued and stacked veneers are pressed under controlled temperature and pressure. Shrinkage wastage occurs during this process, typically in the range of 3%-8%.
Edge Trimming:
After the hot press, the edges of the plywood are trimmed to size. Wastage here is generally around 6%-9%, with larger productions resulting in lower wastage.
Sanding:
The plywood surface is sanded for a smooth finish. The wastage from this stage is 2%-6%, mainly in the form of sanding dust.
Raw Material Control:
