The 480 UV Liquid Varnish Paper Coating Machine is an economical UV coating/laminating system (QH-Coat series) designed to upgrade print quality for photo paper and other substrates. It applies UV, aqueous and primer coatings to produce glossy or matte finishes and is suitable for digital presses and traditional offset printers.
The QH-Coat series is available in several widths: 18" (480 mm), 24" (650 mm) and 36" (900 mm). Models are referenced by their working width (e.g., SQH-Coat 18", SQH-Coat 24", SQH-Coat 36").
It can apply UV liquid coatings, aqueous coatings and primer coatings. An optional free-standing IR preheat unit can be added for better results with wax-based toner coatings.
It is designed for a wide variety of substrates including photo paper. Minimum sheet weight is about 180 g/m². Maximum thickness depends on the model and application and can be up to 300 g/m² for standard runs and up to 800 g/m² in heavier-duty configurations—refer to your model specification for exact limits.
The machine can produce both glossy and matte effects depending on the coating formulation and settings.
Coating is cured with a UV lamp. Each listed model is equipped with one UV lamp as the curing source.
The transport speed is variable from 0 to 18 meters per minute, allowing adjustment for different substrates and coating weights.
Specifications by model: SQH-Coat 18" — Power 2500 W, Weight 250 kg, Dimensions 92 × 130 × 132 cm. SQH-Coat 24" — Power 3500 W, Weight 370 kg, Dimensions 112 × 200 × 132 cm. SQH-Coat 36" — Power 3500 W, Weight 485 kg, Dimensions 140 × 200 × 132 cm.
Safety features include sensors for counting and anti-rolling, auto turn-off devices, safety interlocks (open-cover protection), CE-standard wiring, mirrors and anti-rolling protections, and an air pipe to remove waste air outside the room.
Yes — a free-standing IR preheat unit is available as an option. It is recommended when coating prints made with wax-based toner to improve coating adhesion and appearance.
The coater uses a liquid cycle/recirculation system that returns unused coating to the reservoir, reducing waste and lowering per-job coating consumption.
Regular maintenance includes flushing the coating system according to the coating manufacturer's guidance, cleaning the coating head and belt, checking the pump and UV lamp operation, and routine inspection of sensors and safety interlocks. Follow the user manual and supplier recommendations for schedules and approved cleaning fluids.
The unit is designed for simple control and easy operation with a long feeding board for different sheet sizes. It separates coater and dryer for flexible use and is intended to integrate well with both digital and offset print workflows. Basic operator training is recommended.
Provide sufficient floor space per the machine dimensions, a stable level surface rated for the machine weight, appropriate electrical supply per model power rating, and ventilation for the air/waste exhaust. CE-standard wiring is included, but final electrical hookup should follow local codes and be performed by qualified personnel.
